  • Call for Bug Reports and Translations

It has been a little over a month since our last release. We've received some excellent feedback on minor issues that have been addressed. As we get closer to the next release date, I'm asking the community to help with reporting any bugs or minor feature improvements so we can get the v1.6 code base as stable as possible.

I'm also requesting that anyone who has updated any of the non-English language files to please provide those to the glFusion Development team so we can include updated translations in the next release.

Our focus for v1.6.6 is to continue to improve the overall stability and user friendliness of glFusion. We welcome all feedback and suggestions!

  • My Quest to Find Good Hosting

I've been mulling over the idea of switching hosting providers for a few months and finally decided it was time to make a move. I started my journey to find the perfect hosting company. Turns out, finding a good host is a lot more difficult than it looks. There are tons of hosting review sites, but frankly, I don't trust any of them. What I saw in their rankings and recommendations didn't align very well with my personal experience. I started to evaluate what I wanted in a host and started to build my requirements. Below are some of the things I've learned along the way.

  • glFusion v1.6.5 Now Available!

I am very pleased to announce the release of glFusion v1.6.5. Another milestone in our evolution and quest for stability with style! This release continues our focus on security, bug remediation and stability improvements. Many of the updates were driven by community input and as always, we really appreciate our users and their feedback. It is highly recommended that everyone upgrade their existing installation to the latest version.

    Security Update

glFuison has long used the excellent phpMailer library to handle sending mail in glFusion. Recently, there were several security vulnerabilities identified in phpMailer. Fortunately, these issues did not have a large impact on glFusion since glFusion filters all user supplied input prior to calling phpMailer. Regardless, we have upgraded phpMailer to the latest upstream version which includes all security patches. We've also enhanced the security controls and protections around mailing features as an extra layer of defense.

  • glFusion v1.6.4 Now Available!

I am pleased to announce the availability of glFusion v1.6.4. This release continues to improve the stability and capabilities of glFusion. glFusion v1.6.4 fixes one very nasty bug where the HTML filter whitelist was not properly initialized on new installations of v1.6.3. This upgrade resolves the issue and properly fixes the HTML whitelist. This issue did not affect user's who upgraded from previous versions of glFusion.

  • glFusion v1.6.3 Patch Level 1 Update

There have been a few minor issues identified since we released glFusion v1.6.3, so I'm rolling out Patch Level 1 which resolves the following items:

    • mgslider auto tag cleanup
    • Forum: processing of auto tags, smilies and automatic URL generation were having collisions - urls being created by auto url parsing were then interpreted by smiley code - potentially creating a mess.
    • Static page editor did not display error messages in proper format (no styling)
    • Static page 'Add to Menu' option was not visible
    • Menu builder did not properly create static page menu

For sites that have already upgraded to v1.6.3, all you need to do is upload the files in the glFusion-1.6.3-1.6.3.pl1 files from the Patch Level download area - no need to run the upgrade, this archive contains just the few files that have changed.

All other glFusion archives (full 1.6.3 release, and 1.6.2 to 1.6.3 incremental release) have been updated with the latest files.
