 Media Gallery Comments and IP

Hi there,

I was just wondering if album owners were meant to be able to delete comments in their own albums? My logged in users have the delete button, but they can not use it.

Also is it possible to remove the IP addresses so that logged in users are not able to view them in the media gallery? They are not able to see the IP addresses with comments throughout the rest of my site.

I am using Media Gallery version 1.5.1 with Geeklog version 1.6.1.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

How easy is it to upgrade from Geeklog 1.6.1 to GLFusion?
Is it a simple update or a completely new install?

It is easy to migrate to glFusion, check out this documentation for how to do it. You will not regret doing it, glFusion is great.

Thanks

Big Grin Oh my. This looks much more professional. I have read through the upgrade instructions and it looks quite straight forward. I do have my own theme, but I am sure I can figure that out later as that is not important right now, but having a programme that works is. Smile
Thank you for guiding me to the documentation page Lee. I have spent many months trying to get around Geeklog and learning how things work. I still see myself as a newbie as I do not have the programming skills that most have, but I can certainly see that GLFusion looks much better. I will try and upgrade tomorrow so that my members know what is happening in advance.

Thanks again.

Check out my site, which started as a GL 1.4.1 site and now is running the latest glFusion version 1.1.8pl5.

My theme is Nouveau with just a few tweeks here and there. Let me know what you think.

Thanks

Lizard, welcome to the glFusion community. I want to make sure you understand that glFusion is not Geeklog. This means if you have plugins on your Geeklog site and there is not an equivalent available specifically for glFusion, do not expect it to work in glFusion. The same goes for all the old Geeklog themes, they simply will not work with glFusion. I want to make sure you understand this before making a decision to stay or upgrade to glFusion.

That said, if you need a system that is actively developed, and the plugins which support it are also actively developed and updated, upgrading to glFusion may be a welcome change.

My advice is to make sure you understand what plugins you will want / need for your site and go with the system that best meets those needs.

Thanks!
Mark

Hi Mark,

I mainly use the forum with smileys and the Media Gallery, Well. That's when my version of the Media Gallery works that is. Big Grin
I have had a look at the plugins here and you seem to have what I am looking for so all should be ok.

I just wanted to say how much more happier I am for upgrading to GLFusion.

Hi Lee,

Please could I ask how you got the dropdown menu for the sub albums in your media gallery?
It looks really good and it would be useful.

There is a Media Gallery configuration setting to turn on / off showing the sub-albums in a dropdown box:

Command & Control -> Media Gallery -> Display Options Tab -> Show Sub-Albums in Select Box.

Thanks!
