glFusion v1.1.2 Released

The team at glFusion.org is pleased to announce that glFusion v1.1.2 is now available for download! Even though this release is called an incremental release, there are several new features and enhancements that we think you'll be very pleased with!

So what have we been working on? For starters, we've completely redesigned the installation and upgrade routines to be much more user friendly and provide better feedback if there are environment issues or problems are encountered. You also have the ability to select which plugins are installed and whether you want to have the site sample content loaded.

We've also completely redesigned how you install plugins. What was once a very cumbersome process is now handled with just a few mouse clicks. You no longer need to upload the plugin via FTP; instead you can use an integrated upload system. Read on to learn more, or download your flavor below and get started!

On the Plugin Administration screen, you’ll see a new area where you can select a plugin to upload. Once it is uploaded, glFusion will validate that it has the proper permissions to copy all the files, create any needed configuration files and install the plugin.

You can also upgrade existing plugins as well. We’ve made some changes to the plugins themselves to support this new auto installer. In addition to updating all the bundled plugins that ship with glFusion, the following 3rd party plugins have been updated to work with the latest version of glFusion, grab them all in the plugin download section.  Each plugin contains the latest bug fixes and feature enhancements. It is recommended that you upgrade to these versions.

• DokuWiki - A complete wiki integration for glFusion - updated to DW release 2008-02-14
• Data Proxy - Provides a consistent interface for category / item data for other plugins
• Site Map - Generate both an online sitemap and a Google compatible sitemap.xml file
• Tags - Tag articles and include a Tag Cloud on your glFusion site
• evList - Add event lists and other extras to your site calendar
• GUS - (glFusion Usage Stats) Collect in-depth stats about your site visitors
• PayPal - Allows you to have an online product list and accept payment via PayPal
• Chameleon - Create over 88,000 layouts with just the click of the mouse

The installer will also help you install old style plugins by copying the necessary files to the proper location, but you will still have to select the Install link for the plugin administration screen. Not only does this make installing plugins almost painless, it will give us the ability to easily distribute upgrades to the bundled plugins without having to wait for a full glFusion release!
